TEC Quality appoints new chair

David Pearson CBE has been appointed as the new TEC Quality chair.

David has wide experience of leadership at a local, national and regional level in care and health and wider public services. He has led a number of major change programmes and is a Past President of the Association Directors of Adult Social Services and continues to act as an adviser to the government on social care and health reform.

David has worked for Nottinghamshire County Council for 36 years in various roles; as Director of the former Social Services department, with responsibility for adults and children. In 2006 he became Corporate Director for Adult Social Care and Health. He has also covered the role of Director for Corporate Services. He became the Deputy Chief Executive in the Council in 2008.

In November 2017 David was invited to be a member of an independent panel of experts advising the government on the development of the Green Paper on adult social care.

David comments: “I am very pleased and excited to be invited to be the Chair for TEC Quality and I am looking forward to working with organisations and colleagues in shaping the strategic direction of quality and safety of technology enabled care services.

“I am deeply committed to high quality, personalised care, treatment and support and my interest in this role is generated by the opportunity to contribute and help lead this important area of healthcare.”

David’s ambitions for TEC Quality and the Quality Standards Framework are to:
  • Further develop standards in collaboration with the sector, users of services, governments, regulators and wider stakeholders
  • Ensure that evaluation contributes to the further development of standards and approaches to their implementation
  • Give confidence to commissioners, providers and the public regarding quality, safety and improved outcomes
  • Ensure the implementation and development of standards in a way which continues to drive and facilitate innovation and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to the development of technology enabled care so that the UK is recognised as a world leader for quality, safety and innovation
Alyson Scurfield, CEO of the TSA adds: “We’re immensely pleased to have David on the board at TEC Quality. As the independent arm of the TSA, set up last year to agnostically manage the QSF audit and certification scheme, TEC Quality will gain great benefit from David’s experience in the wider social care arena.

“David’s appointment will spearhead the next phase of QSF development as we work on progressive standards guidance on the move to digital telecoms infrastructure and in-line with the emergence of new technology such as wearable and mobile connected devices.”
